AMANDA – CHEF
Amanda was born and raised in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, where her family owned and operated a restaurant in the bustling city center. Her eyes were opened to the world of hospitality at a young age and her passion for food flourished over the years and throughout her travels. Discovering her grandparents’ Indonesian roots, she worked at Bartje Boemboe in Amsterdam, a production kitchen that makes fresh spice pastes and holds monthly tasting dinners. She also contributed to the recipe development of the Bartje Boemboe cookbook. After earning a business degree, spending a semester abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina and working a handful of office jobs, she made the move back to the US to pursue her passion. In 2018, Amanda completed the culinary certificate program at Boston University where she honed in on skills and techniques while working alongside many talented chefs, including Jacques Pépin. Shortly after, she became the Julia Child Foundation Teaching Assistant and received the Rebecca Alssid Culinary Arts Award.
In 2019, she continued her career path at SRV, named Best Italian Restaurant by Boston Magazine in 2022, where she worked her way up from garde manger cook to sous chef, putting creative dishes on the menu and experimenting with fermentation.
When she’s not in the kitchen, Amanda loves to enjoy the many bounties of Cape Cod, whether it’s harvesting shellfish, foraging for mushrooms or seeking out produce at local farmer’s markets.
MEREDITH – OWNER
Meredith entered the restaurant business nearly 30 years ago, and recognized she had the passion and hard work to succeed in this industry. She went on to become a liquor and fine wine sales consultant servicing the restaurant and retail accounts from one end of the Cape to the other.
She has had the pleasure of supporting her husband Mac who owns 3 restaurants, beginning with the Local Break in Eastham in 2012, Hog Island Brewery in Orleans in 2018, and most recently the Hog Island Surf Lodge in Wellfleet which opened in July 2022.
When not at the restaurant, Meredith is spending time with her two very active children, Chase and Farrah.
